Listening to the first episode and last hour of TSV yet again because I am unwell. On a totally unrelated note, debating recommending it to my mother? She doesn’t like horror but it’s mostly horror in the way darker fantasy can have horror? She loves Game of Thrones so I’m sure this is fineee. Idk. How can I convince her to convert to this beloved genre?

You feel energised, your energy is moving through your veins. It’s an act of self love and care that doesn’t require a fancy gym membership. Just commitment of 30 mins per day. 

Prioritise your gut health. Your gut is your second brain, it’s communicating with you always. Start listening, start noticing what foods it needs, what foods affect your energy levels, if carbs are making you sleepy, re-assess, if the coffee is giving you the jitters, reassess. Stop ignoring what your gut is telling you, notice your bowel movements. Keep getting the shits? Take fucking note. Read books, get tested, learn about your gut microbiome. Having excellent gut health is how you thrive in this life, unfortunately the western diet creates quite the opposite and so its on you to rise above the status quo.

Kelly had just gotten off work, she worked in a retail store in the mall, the place over recent months had become more dead, though it was frustrating to watch the decline of the store, she knew the money was decent and she only had a few more classes to finish her degree. She talked to her boyfriend Seth as she walked to the food court to grab a quick sandwich, she ate it quick and went to the bathroom to wash her hands before heading home. She told Seth she would talk to him when she got home.

As she walked out of the bathroom she didn’t see the tall man in black step out of the shadows and walk up behind her. She felt a small prick in her neck and the world started to go black.

30 mins later she started to come to, she was strapped down on what looked like a gurney in the back of a van, she looked around, it was fuzzy, she wasn’t wearing her glasses, she mumbled, “where am” was all she could say her voice was slurred.

The man in the back of the van with her, looked down, “wake huh, let’s give you the next dose.” He pulled out a needle and looked at her, tapping it, the needle had the number 2 on it. She felt the prick in her arm, and then blackness started to rapidly come for her again.

Kelly woke up again, she looked around the room, she could see the room looked like a lab of some sorts, there was tables, and machines, monitors as well as a large mirror across from her. She couldn’t see in it because the angle of the mirror was tilted from where she was. She did notice something she was standing, she tried to move but found herself locked in place, she thought maybe it was a drug or something or her being restrained still. She also realized after a few minutes of trying to look around, she couldn’t move her neck but her eyesight was normal, she wasn’t wearing glasses but could see clearly now.

A man walked in, he was in his late 40s maybe early 50s, he looked like a doctor. He smiled at her “good morning,” he said in a pleasant tone. “Name?”

She wanted to tell him to go fuck himself and to let her out of here but she heard herself “Model 25.”

“Good, previous name?”

“Kelly Armstrong.”

“Excellent, you are starting off beautifully” he said starting to walk around her. “Arms up.”

Without hesitation her arms went up into the air, then she heard him say down and her arms went down. She realized she wasn’t restrained, but if that was the case she could run, she could leave but she was finding it impossible.

He looked at her “I am sure you have questions, so go ahead you are allowed to ask, I will answer what I can.”

“Where am I?”

“In a conversion lab.”

“What is happening to me?”

“You are being converted into our newest model.”

“You can’t do this, I have friends, I have a boyfriend, they will come for me.”

He looked at her and a small chuckle came from him, “Of course, don’t worry in time you won’t be bothered by that.” He walked over and pulled the mirror slightly to the side, she could see herself now. She looked the same, but she was naked, she blushed at the fact she was standing naked in front of a man and it wasn’t even bothering her. She noticed her skin around her neck and down her arms was looking slightly shiny, and that her body hair, well her trimmed bush was gone. Before she could say anything else, “Shutdown 25.” Her mind started to go black.

It had been 3 days since Kelly went missing, Seth had made calls to her friends, to her work, to her parents, no one had seen her. He went to the cops after the first day she was missing and they filed a report. On day 3 he went to her apartment, the detective had called him, they had gotten access to her apartment, when Seth showed up, he was stunned to find the apartment cleared out, completely empty of everything. There was nothing left, even the walls looked like they had been painted over. The detective told Seth that this happens all the time, girlfriends up and leave, disappear to get away from something bad. Seth tried to explain she was happy, was in school, loved her family, she would have never just left. The detective shrugged saying maybe he didn’t know her that well.

Kelly woke up again, in the same room, the man appearing from around the room behind her again.

“Name?”

“Model 25, if you are the owner, you can designate a Name for the unit.” She was shocked to hear herself answer like that, so coldly.

“Former name?”

“Kelly.”

“No surname?”

She was silent, she had a surname right, she knew what it was, she had to know what it was. But she stayed silent as she watched the smile on the man walking around her.

He told her to do things, move around, raise and lower arms and legs, rotate neck, open mouth. Then when she was back in the same position, he moved the mirror and she was stunned to see her body. Her skin was slightly darker, like if she had a constant tan, her skin was also looking more glossy. She noticed her hips looked wider and her stomach was tighter looking. She wanted to yell, wanted to ask him to save her get her out of here but she couldn’t seem to move. Then he said “Shutdown 25,” and her world went black again.

It had been almost 10 days since she was missing, the news did a report it was a 2 minute segment that was quickly forgotten in the constantly insane world news cycle. No one was really going to care about one missing woman. Even the detective called him to say that even though they weren’t closing the case, that it was becoming an inactive file with no leads. They would keep in touch if they heard anything about her from anyone across the country.

She opened her eyes, the man smiling at her “Name”

“Model 25.”

“Former name?”

“Model 25.”

“Excellent, your mental progress has come along nicely, percentage of conversion?”

“57.62%”

“Perfect.”

She moved around under orders, feeling more sway in her hips, jiggle in her ass and even more bounce in her tits. She couldn’t seem to look down at herself. The man moved the mirror again and she was shocked how different she looked. Her breasts which she vaguely remembered as B cups seemed to be nearing DD range, her ass was huge. What was happening to her, how was this possible?

“Subroutine Club dancing,” she heard him say.

It was like something clicked into her head, she started swaying to music in her head, she looked at him, he was a man, she started to move to him dancing, being seductive, feeling herself becoming aroused around him. She wanted to fuck him, her whole body wanted him.

It had been 3 weeks since Kelly had gone missing, Seth was struggling, her family was pissed at him, and when they had a “funeral” for her, he was asked not to attend the funeral. He was drinking a bit more, and struggling mentally.

She opened her eyes, the man in the coat smiled at her “Good morning, name?”

“Model 25.”

“Good, now today I need you to follow me, down the hall to a room, we are going to be filming you today. So I am activating your human subroutine so you can act like a human.”

“Acknowledged,” as she started to blink feeling good, feeling different. She looked at him “I feel good,” she said her voice now even more sultry and seductive sounding.

“I’m glad, let’s go.”

She started to follow him out of the room and down the halls. Left, right, right, left again, she barely focused but was sure she could easily remember where she was going. He walked her into a room that was set up with cameras and different things, she smiled as people waved at her, she waved back. The man in the coat smiled “you are going to end up dancing and trying to look good for the camera, please listen and adapt to what they want.”

She walked farther in, greeting people, no one seemed to act like she wasn’t human it was nice. There was a small part of her in her mind screaming but soon she was able to ignore it. She was told they wanted her to dance and act out some things and she did it. After about an hour, feeling more human than ever the man with coat came over, “ok return to start and shut down.”

She nodded and headed off, back down the halls, she started to notice numbers on all the rooms, 100s of numbers. She passed one door that was open, she looked inside, seeing a girl struggling and yelling, she was standing there in front of a man with a coat, screaming that her name was Stacy.

She finally got back to her room, number 25 on the door. The door was shut, she leaned into an eye scanner, it scanned her eye and the door opened for her. She walked into the room, the room was completely dark but she had no issue finding the exact spot to stand, then she went dark again.

Seth was about to lose everything, he barely went to work, he wasn’t paying his bills, all he did was sit and drink and think about Kelly. It was about 2am and he was getting up from a drunken stupor to go pee when the show he was watching from the 80s went to commercial. He barely was listening to the announcer, but stopped cold in his tracks, staring at the image on the screen. It was of a girl dancing.

Seth stared at the screen, Kelly was so different. Her body, her moves, she was like a walking porn star. He was stunned but he couldn’t stop staring he knew no matter what she looked like, her eyes were the same. This was his girlfriend, the love of his life. He stared watching the screen, then it said Model 25 was available for purchase. He had no clue what it meant but he had to find out about whatever company was selling this model and he would find his Kelly there.

2 weeks later her eyes opened to see the man in the coat again “Good morning, name?”

“Model 25.”

“Excellent, please look at me in the eyes and tell me your state of conversion.”

She leaned in and he saw what he was hoping to see, her eyes had fully changed, she was another one of the Bim-bots they were selling, then her sultry voice “100%”

“Good good, I’ve got better news, you have been sold, you have an owner now.”

A warm feeling flooded through her, she was going to be owned, it was her purpose.

“He wants you to be his flirty tease and a very sexually needy trophy girlfriend, he wants to to tease other men, only want you and be clingy that it makes it seem you want him to fuck you constantly. We will be updating your profile and your name he requested is Jasmine.”

“Acknowledged.”

“Name?”

“Jasmine” she purred.

“Perfect, now shutdown, we will do the finer adjustments and you will be at his house in days.”

Her world went black again.

No one believed Seth, but he had to figure this out, he found the company’s website and was sure that they would have information on her. But then after a week he found out her profile was greyed out and she was “sold”, and he was devastated but he knew she was alive and that was driving him.

He reaffirmed himself at work, making sure to get his life around and make the money he needed, he was going to find her and if he had to buy her, he hoped.

He was at work doing some med level tasks but he was also surfing the dark web to talk to people who might have information on her. He didn’t notice that movement in the office, the managers starting to look nicer as the owner of the company, the big boss was showing up. The man owned buildings and businesses all over the world and today he was coming to their little office building.

The elevator dinged and two people were met, the men were chatting and bragging to the owner about all their growth and achievements while the younger guys in the cubicles around the office could only talk about one thing, her. The woman cuddling up against the 53 year old man. She was a fucking bombshell. She walked next to him in a skin tight dress and heels. One guy looked at Seth, “dude check her out, fuck whatever her name was she left you, check out this piece of ass.”

Seth looked up and then looked back down at the computer, it took him seconds and he stood up in shock. “Kelly!” He screamed

Some people turned to look at the man who had been such a hermit as of late as he bounded over desks and chairs, grabbing the woman by the arm “Kelly, it’s me Seth.”

She looked at him, looking down at him like he was trash, “my name is Jasmine,” she said as she tugged her arm away.

The owner looked at him, giving him a look of death and destruction. Seth’s boss moved him back, warning him that this guy paid his salary. He called out to Kelly one more time, breaking into sobs.

The woman was back in the arms of her man. Back into his safe grasp. She looked back to the poor fool starting to cry. And for one second, Seth and her locked eyes, he had hope that his love was there, but then her stare turned to wicked hate and the flipped her hair back no longer paying the boy attention.

GL Recs Masterlist

I've watched a couple hundred gls now and so I thought i'd put it to good use and help other people find some. There's not enough gl rec lists anyway

First things first, I'll like to direct you to https://mydramalist.com/list/1xrpwdW3 which is a gl rec list on mdl with more than 200+ titles + links. It's an EXCELLENT resource, kept up to date and even tracks upcoming titles.

Now for stuff that I've watched and thought are decent. I'll link all of these to their mdl page and the links to watch the show can usually be found in the comments. If you're new to gl, be warned that a lot of these are pretty short, ranging from 1-30 minutes.

1 in 10,000 (2018) Korea. This is a soulmates piece told in 3 parts following two girls through different parts of their lives. I think this got more confusing as it went on but I really liked Act I and I think it's worth watching. It's beautiful and angsty and a bit artsy. I'm pretty sure it has a happy ending but don't quote me on that.

Afraid of (2019) Korea. A short film about a girl struggling with her sexuality. Yeah, I know, there's a THOUSAND of these but I do like this one. It's beautifully shot and there's a lot of heart.

Am I the only one with butterflies? (2018) Korea. A girl blogs about falling in love with the manager at her new job. I like part ii better than part one but it's just cute and the pining is very similar to het kdramas.

Anonymous high school girl (2022) Korea. A low stakes love triangle. Good chemistry, low budget, awful kisses.

The Beauty of the Law (2023) China- If you're not familar with chinese gls, I think it's certainly something to get used to. This is like in the top 1% of the category. It's an ad for Adolph Shampoo and i'm going to let you know that they're going to appear often on this list because they make excellent gls. It's a historical about a female unlicensed lawyer trying to help a woman escape her abusive marriage. Makes great points about gender imbalances and women's historical lack of legal rights in China. (f you like this one, Sheng Wei, one of the actresses stars in 50%+ of all chinese gls, check her out)

Beguine (2018) Thailand - It's if the school dancing scene in My School President was a 30 minute sequence with two girls. No plot but adorable.

Cat in the eastern palace (2020) China - Watch this just to have the surreal experience of seeing like 3 whole cdrama arcs which normally take 20ish eps executed in a 7 minute timeframe. Also because it stars laoji who's in the other 50% of chinese gls. As for plot, it's about a cat spirit and a girl pretending to be the crown prince.

Clasper (2021) Thailand - And they were roommates! I liked the production, the dialogue and the acting was pretty decent.

Couple of Mirrors*** (2021) China- Wait to watch this because it will ruin you for everything else. This is like typical thai bl length, like 12 45~min episodes. It's a historical mystery about a wealthy woman who finds out about her husband's affair with her bff and the photographer she enlists to help her. If you watch one thing out of China, watch this.

Dear My Girlfriend (2021) Korea - A group project ft love triangle. It´s pretty classic. A girl starts dating someone who likes her only to realize she might instead be in love with her best friend. The editing is cute. It's a touch angsty as love triangles are and pretty well done.

Dear Uranus (2021) Taiwan. Another school love triangle. Does feature an adorkable female character, you know a bit awkward, a bit cutesy, if you hate this archetype, ignore this one. Personally I think the chemistry for the lead couple was lacking (genuinely shocking considering taiwan tends to be great at this) but both the love interests are hot and I am not immune to hot women

The Demonic lord and the virtuous cultivator (2021) China - Avoid this if you don't like toxic yuri. I personally love it so this is 10/10 for me. Orphan gets taken in by a benevolent benefactor who turns out to be her parents' killer and eventually....you know what go watch it.

Encore Martha (2021) Taiwan. One of the few gls about older women. A tomboy reunites with her first love. This one's only available on gagaoolala so you'll either need a subscription or sometimes they promote it for free. If you can find it though, it's worth a watch.

Family Plan (2016) Korea. This is a bit of an odd one to describe. The first half is two high school girls who are dating. And then the second half is their relationship as adults where they marry guys and use it to have a kid that they raise as theirs. I liked how this examined how two gay people would go about their relationship in in a world where they can't freely be with each other.

Favorite Girl (2022) Thailand. Very standard plot about a girl suffering from a breakup and her roommate but something about it stuck out to me.

Five steps to accept farewell (2016) Korea. Warning for unhappy ending. This is all pure angst, a 9 minute snapshot into a breakup. I like how it's done and the messiness of the situation.

Fragrance of the first flower (2021) Taiwan. A beautifully shot, beautifully acted, slightly too short show about two ex-lovers reuniting ft. all the angst about living in a homophobic society. It stayed in my head for weeks after I first watched it.

Girls Blood** (2014) Japan. A movie about 4 "girls" in an underground fight club. warnings for rape, trauma, domestic assault. One of the main characters is a trans man. There are sex scenes. It's very queer and I highly recommend.

Girls Love** (2016) China. Pre-censorship China had some very wonderful queer work and one of them was this movie It's about a girl who falls in love with her hot butch roommate ft all the tropes AND we get to see them function in a relationship instead of the movie ending when they get together. Warning for both characters being forcibly outed at the end. (nothing bad really happens to them after though). Also do NOT watch the sequel. If you go to mdl, everyone else will also tell you not to watch the sequel and I foolishly did not listen to those people because I liked these girls so much and I suffered for my mistake.

The Girls on Rela (2016) China. It's an anthology of short, I wouldn't say stories, more like moments, sponsored by a lesbian dating app. Each one's really short but the acting and scripts are all pretty good.

The Girls on Rela Season 2** (2016) China. This is sponsored by the same company but it's a totally different format. It's one long show about two girls cohabiting. Pretty well executed if a bit slow.

Graduation, Present + Propose (2021) Korea. A short about a high school girl giving a graduation present to her crush. What it does it does well. It's pretty.

The Handmaiden (2016) Korea. Historical set movie about a conman and thief girl who plot to steal a heiress’s fortune. I make it sound boring but that's only because it's a pretty popular movie and everything to be said about it has already been said.

Happy to have you here (2021) Thailand. Two friends have a sleepover and figure out their feelings. This is definitely in the top 20% for this trope, even though they rushed just a tad into the kiss.

Hello, spring is coming (2019) Korea. I'll let you read the synopsis for this one. What you need to know is that it's pretty, well acted, has good chemistry and is as brightly colored as a lollipop. It's a bit disorienting, parts of it doesn't make a lot of sense but it's a fun time.

I broke up because of you (2023) Korea- A bartender and their client catches feelings for each other. The dynamic is nice, the kiss less so but it can be forgiven.

I’m her weapon (2022) China- It's kinky, it's angsty, it's 3 minutes long and still fits in a separation arc. I would pay money for an extended version.

Kanojo no Kuchidzuke Kansensuru Libido (2022) Japan - two girls fall in love in a hospital. I like the tone of this one.

The L Bang** (2015) China- Another Rela production. It's a 4 episode comedy about a bunch of lesbians + (1) gay man who live in the same apartment complex. It's got queer friendship, queer acceptance and queer love. It's just wonderful. It feels like 2000s American sitcoms but queer and Chinese.

Led Astray by Love (2022) China- Fairly long for a cgl. A girl gets transported to a manhwa and falls in love with the ruler. Sunshine/grumpy. This baby is 52 minutes long and covers like the same amount of plot as word of honor does in 30 something episodes.

Legend of Yunze (2021) China - A human and a half demon vanquish demons from a village. It has a second season and a special that I haven't watched yet.

The Lost World** [Xia Ye Zhi Dao Feng De Tian] (2023) China - After watching as much cgl as I have, I was shocked to see Laoji in a modern piece. This is a college setting running-into-a-childhood-friend trope. The pacing and chemistry are both pretty good. It's one of my favorites from her.

Love in the Tinder Age** (2019) Korea- A black comedy about a bullied lesbian's failed suicide attempt ft psychics, ghosts and a teacher/student relationship. It's not really a gl because the main character doesn't get a romance BUT it's really fun so you should watch it anyway.

Love of Secret** (2022) Thailand- More of a slice of life than a love story but it's cute and fluffy and the main character very much is in a relationship. The actual plot is about a med student who's hiding both her relationship with her best friend and her dreams to be an idol. I found it positively charming.

Lover’s Concerto** (2002) Korea- Calling this a gl is a stretch. It's more just queer? The girls were most likely in love but they don't end up together and the movie itself doesn't really have a happy ending. I did find it beautiful though.

Mayfly angel (2024) Korea- Classic discovers-feelings-for-bestie-after-a-breakup plot. Warning that this is angsty and they don't end up together. But I found it realistic and I liked that they felt like two real people. Take that how you will.

Miss shen and the woman warlord (2023) China- a woman cross-dresses as another young woman's fiance and they fall in love. Despite how i describe it, there's a decent amount of plot and some political commentary.

More or less than 75 celsius (2019) Korea- A tea master and her supervisor fall in love. It's sparse and short but cute.

My Dear (2021) Thailand. A drunk girl confesses to her friend and luckily for her, it's mutual. It's 5 minutes long but it uses its time well and the acting is nice. It feels a bit like gmmtv's confessions. If you like it, the production company ShakeShoulder makes TONS of gl shorts and i'd recommend checking them out.

No distance left to run  (2022) Hong Kong. a 15 minute short film about how fame causes issues in a pop star's relationship. Unhappy ending. The song's a bop though and it's well done.

Nü er hong** (2023) China. I forgot to mention but this one, the legend of yunze and the lost world are all produced by the same studio. They do a lot of fairly long chinese gls. The story is about these two beings from an alien world who crash land on earth and are hunted. One is a healer and the other is a killer, they're in love, the killer goes insane so her lover kills her. Unbeknownst to them, they're immortal so the killer wakes up with no memories 200 years later. The pacing is better than some of their earlier stuff but it's not quite perfect here yet. It is one of my favorites from the studio though and it ends happily.

Our relationship ended before it began (2022) Korea. A barista falls in love with her manager at a coffee shop ft gender roles, miscommunication and the classic "cool one picks on the nice one to show affection" trope.

Pyramid Game** (2024) Korea. This is more gl adjacent like Devil Judge and Beyond Evil. There is a secondary gl couple that's more explicitly canon though. If you've watched other kdramas about school bullying, this is pretty similar except it's an all-girls school and everyone is so gay. It's got so much heart and is one of my favorite shows of the year.

Really, Lily? (2019) Korea. A 6 minute short about two girls who visit a cafe and beats up two men who were making homophobic remarks about them. It's surprisingly comedic and the coloring is bright to match. Features a pretty decent kiss. Watching it, I wished it was longer but what's there is still good.

Secret of us (2024) Thailand. The only longform thai gl that i've liked enough to finish. It's about an idol who comes back to win over her doctor ex. It falters from ep 6 onwards but until then, the show is really good at showing the emotional thought processes of the characters and the way they construct the story is compelling, even though I don't even like second chance romances.

Shackles (2023) China. Another one from the Chinese shampoo ad. The pairing itself is not my favorite but it's so cool that this is basically a warning against nuclear pollution AND features chinese mythology that's used in the brand's marketing. Like a 3 in 1. It's so interesting.

She Makes My heart flutter (2022) Korea. Baby lesbian finds out her aunt runs a lesbian bar and starts working there. It's so goddamn cute but it has this weird relationship with homophobia where everyone in the show is apparently 100% ok with queerness but a lot of the aunt's actions is so driven by her being a queer person in an unaccepting society. A bit like how Moonlight Chicken deals with Jin and Li Ming's different attitudes towards being queer except they don't dwell on why the aunt is the way she is or what she's been through. Anyways, it's worth a watch.

Sleep with me (2022) Philippines. A 6 episode series about two girls who are disabled in different ways fall in love. One of them can only sleep during the day and the other is in a wheelchair and the show does a pretty decent job at showing how these disabilities affect their lives and their relationship

Soshite, Yuriko wa Hitori ni Natta** (2020) Japan. If you follow me, you may have seen me talk about this show earlier this year because I found it and promptly fell in love. It's not quite gl but Mizuki's actions are all driven by the fact that she's in love with Yuriko. It's queerer than you would expect, less queer than you might want. It's a supernatural-adjacent school horror about a girl who's new school has a weird thing where every year, a girl named Yuriko becomes "Yuriko sama" and rules the school while everyone else in that year with the same name mysteriously dies. Yuriko's best friend Mizuki plots to make the sweet innocent Yuriko the newest Yuriko-sama to save her life. It's weird, there's plot holes everywhere by the end, it definitely vilifies it's gays and the ending is weak but it's such a compelling watch.

Stand-in love (2023) Philippines. 2 best friends have a ‘stand in’ relationship where the straight one helps the lesbian one learn how to court someone but they end up falling in love with each other. Like 20 min long and I love it.

Ti Shen** [The substitute] (2017) Taiwan. The mdl synopsis can describe the plot better than I can but it's a romance between an idol and a normal girl that's split into two parts. The first half is about them meeting in high school, the second is when they reunite later on a movie set where one of them is the other's stunt double. I think the first part could've been a bit longer but it's a great movie.

Transit Girls (2015) Japan. Stepsisters. Happy ending though and it's fairly long. I liked this mostly because I like Japan's moody stuff. I also liked how they handled the male love interest.

Truth or Dare (2022) Korea. A 10 minute short about two girls who like each other playing truth or dare. It does a great job at building tension and revealing things without saying it.

Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna** (2022) Japan. A woman who loves to cook comes to an arrangement with her neighbor who loves to eat. Japan does food-centered dramas better than everyone else and this is no exception. The romance itself is slow and you watch how their dynamic changes through this and the season two that came out this year.

The Twelve flower gods: Camelia (2020) China. A xianxia romance about a girl falling in love with a flower but it's a minute twenty so I promise you're not watching for the plot. You're watching to witness the ridiculous amount of innuendos that they manage to fit in under two minutes.

Twin souls of destiny (2023) China. Xianxia romance between two elves, one who is made from the memories of the other's past life. I want someone else to watch this so we can discuss whether or not this is selfcest. The color combination is interesting because I very rarely see lovers in red and purple. The time travel is confusing but it's a good time and laoji is in it.

Until Rainbow Dawn** (2018) Japan. Movie about two deaf girls falling in love ft homophobic parents. The director is a deaf lesbian herself so the movie does a wonderful job in how it depicts deafness and their relationship. It's really well done

When the light pours (2022) Korea. A girl's boyfriend wants her to sing him a song so she enrolls in guitar lessons and ends up falling in love with her teacher. The girls don't get together and I really wish they had! So if you watch this, don't watch the ending and pretend that they did end up together.

Atsumu’s day so far had been excellent and was only about to get better. After quite an incessant amount of annoying (begging) you to study with him for your exams, you had agreed to let him walk you home so you could hit the books together. He checked his hair in the reflection of a window while he waited outside the gym for you to finish up your post-training talk with the coach.

About to pull out his phone to text you to hurry up, he let his eyes wander across the campus in the evening light and then spotted your familiar chubby figure coming out of the coach’s office. A wide grin spread across his face and he called out, jogging to catch up.

You were deep in thought about the work you still had to do that night, the analysis report the coach asked for and the history paper you still had to proof-read, when you heard hurried footsteps approaching.

“Y/n.”, Atsumu grinned and despite knowing better, you felt your fatigue wash away.

He was practically bouncing, his excitement contagious and soon enough you were matching his energetic stride.

The way back to your home led through a street of restaurants and bars which were bright and cheerful. Sometimes, however, like tonight, there was a group of men standing outside one of these establishments, drinking and smoking, laughing loudly and making comments you were happy were too slurred to understand.

You slowed and Atsumu looked at you in amused confusion.

“What’s wrong?”, he asked.

You focused on the group of men that had already spotted you and were getting ready to catcall.

“Let’s take a different street. There is this new snack I wanna try and one street over is a convenience store.”

Atsumu gave a snort, obviously not buying your story for one second and when he followed your gaze saw what you were trying to avoid.

“It’ll be fine. I’m here after all. Let‘s go.”

With an annoyingly confident smirk he turned back around and took a step forward, waiting for you.

He tried to look as natural as possible walking down the street towards the men, having switched sides with you so you would be out of grabbing distance - he kept one eye on them and one on you. The men began to jeer as you came closer. You were only 30 metres or so away.

He was going to turn to you and tell you again not to worry but then he felt your hand slip into his.

When Atsumu gently grabbed your wrist to remove your hand you thought you must have overstepped and didn’t expect him to lace his fingers with yours two rapid heartbeats later. You looked at him and were met with a cheeky grin.

“To make it more believable.”, he explained with a wink.

As you drew closer to the men, he could feel you tense up and began to rub soothing circles on the back of your hand with his thumb, your skin prickling with electricity at his touch.

Atsumu felt invincible with your hand in his. Maybe he could distract you. He quickly considered talking about a book he knew (from casual constant staring) you were currently reading but a moment later a more fun thought crossed his mind.

“Babe, what do you feel like for dinner?”

You looked at him in shock and he had to suppress a chuckle.

You were now only 10 metres away.

"Atsumu-san… "

He whispered, "No no, call me baby."

Your eyes grew bigger and he actually had to laugh at your expression.

You were now walking past the men.

“Hm princess, ya want me to cook for ya? Ah, I can never say no to ya.”, he said sweetly, “Damn, look at you, blushing so cutely.”

He still did not let go of your hand when you crossed the street, enjoying the moment way too much. He felt drunk on excitement, on the thrill of having been so forward. He practically confessed, right? Osamu owed him money now, since he had managed it before the week was out.

“Babe?”, you asked in disbelief as you were out of earshot of the men.

“You don’t like “babe“? How about “love“?”, he teased and ran away laughing when you began to hit him in indignation.

Audio Drama Recommendations, Pt. III

Click here for part one and here for part two. Recently, I've been drawing a lot, which gives me plenty of time to listen to audio dramas and podcasts. These are the ones I liked the most and found entertaining enough to recommend to others. This is not in any particular order, either.

The Green Horizon – is a sci-fi comedy drama created and written by Paul Walsh. It is sponsored by Faustian Nonsense, an indie entertainment network. It currently has three seasons, with each episode being about 20 - 30 minutes long, but later on it increases to 30 - 40 minutes. A fourth season is said to be coming out soon as well.

It is set in the year 2261, and it focuses on a ne'er-do-well Irish space captain and his rag-tag crew, as they traverse a war-torn Galaxy in search of fame and fortune. [ONGOING]

It was a little chaotic and rough at the beginning, but it does smooth out and become more polished. I can definitely tell that they up their game with the improved sound effects and production quality. The voice actors and the writing for the audio drama does an excellent job at bringing their characters to life, which made it very fun to follow along.

If you like Firefly, Red Dwarf, Orville, Cowboy Bepop, and so on then I think you may enjoy this too.

DERELICT – is a sci-fi narrative audio drama from award-winning science fiction author J. Barton Mitchell, and produced by Night Rocket Productions. It currently has one season titled FATHOM, which consist of 10 episodes with each one ranging from 40 mins to an hour, mostly the latter.

Something has been found at the bottom of Earth's ocean. An ancient artifact that can only be described as a giant door, inset into the sea floor. It becomes known as the Vault. A gigantic enigma, buried and forgotten...nineteen thousand feet down.

To study the artifact, the galaxy's most powerful corporation, Maas-Dorian, has built a massive, self-contained, secret laboratory base surrounding it, named FATHOM. It's objective: unlock the secrets of the artifact and discover what it holds.​ But some mysteries should remain buried. And some doors should never be opened... [ONGOING]

DERELICT started as the first project set up as a kickstarter. They produced one episode to entice backers, but then the pandemic happened, and they didn’t raise enough money for the rest of it. Instead, they worked on a prequel season called FATHOM. It's where the story really starts, and I highly suggest you listen to it before listening to "DERELICT E1 - Through the Gate."

I hope they redo the DERELICT's first episode because there's a bit of disconnection from it and FATHOM. For example, Sarah and Agent Blayne already know each other. She mentions it to the others, but the conversation they have with each other doesn’t make it seem that way.

Never mind. I apparently confused this Sarah with the Sarah in FATHOM. Can't blame me for thinking that when I heard the name Sarah and that she was already familiar with Agent Blayne.

Deviser – is a sci-fi horror audio drama created, directed, acted and produced by Harlan Guthrie. The same creator of Malevolent. It's a 7-part limited series, with each episode being about 20 mins long.

Son wakes up aboard a spaceship bound for earth in an effort to recolonize. What he discovers, however, will change everything he knows about his world and himself. [COMPLETED]

It's not for everyone, so please do not ignore the content warnings because there's graphic description of violence, self harm, body horror, gore, animal death/being hurt, and what not.

Victoriocity – is a detective comedy audio drama written by Chris and Jen Sugden, directed by Nathan Peter Grassi and produced by Dominic Hargreaves. It is an entirely independent production. It has two seasons, containing 13 episodes in total, and each one is about 30 to 45 minutes long. There's also a feature-length special and a up-coming third season with the help of a kickstarter.

It is 1887 in Even Greater London, an alternate steampunk Victorian London, where Queen Victoria reigns even after being assassinated eleven times, thanks to the wonders of modern science.

In this vast metropolis, Inspector Archibald Fleet and journalist Clara Entwhistle investigate a murder, only to find themselves at the centre of a conspiracy of impossible proportions. [ONGOING]

It's put together so well, and I see why people say it gives off strong Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett vibes to it. So if you like their works, then I wouldn't be surprised to hear that you like this too.

Impact Winter – is an apocalyptic vampire audio drama created and written by Travis Beacham (Carnival Row, Pacific Rim). It has two seasons containing 22 episodes in total and each one is about 17 to 30 minutes long.

“They came after the impact and the firestorms. When the sun went dark. Like they’d been there all along. Just waiting.”

In the British countryside, a band of survivors forms a resistance in the fallout shelter of a medieval castle. Darcy is a battle-tested vampire hunter who is at the front line, leading the charge to save humanity. Meanwhile, her younger sister Hope wants life to return to normal so she can go above ground and know what it’s like to live again. And she just might be willing to risk it all. [ONGOING]

It has a stacked cast led by Holliday Grainger (Cinderella, Great Expectations), Esme Creed-Miles (Hanna, The Legend of Vox Machina), Liam Cunningham (Games of Thrones, Hunger), Himesh Patel (Station Eleven, Tenet), David Gyasi (Interstellar, Carnival Row), Caroline Ford (Carnival Row, Nekrotronic), Chloe Pirrie (Emma, Carnival Row), and Bella Ramsey (Games of Thrones, The Last of Us).

This reminded me a lot of the film 30 Days of Nights (2007) with a little bit of Reign of Fire (2002), which were both fun films to watch. I think if you like those two, especially the former, you'll enjoy this or at least be entertained by it.

A Voice From Darkness – is a scripted paranormal horror audio drama. It is written and produced by Jac Rhys. It currently has two seasons, containing 20 episodes in total and each one is about 20 to 30 minutes long. It also has 7 bonus voicemail episodes and 15 Patreon exclusive episodes which are longer than the main episodes. A third season in the works as well.

Join parapsychologist and radio broadcaster Dr. Malcolm Ryder as he helps those who suffer the supernatural, paranormal or otherworldly problems on his call-in radio show. It is also interspersed with segments, one of which is called 'Today In Odd America' that delves into the origins of a holiday, local traditions, and history. [ONGOING]

If you like Welcome To Night Vale then I think you'll like this too. A Voice From Darkness is a bit more serious and not as long-drawn as Night Vale was, with a perfect mix of storytelling and lore. It also reminds me a bit of The Magnus Archive too.

How i Died – is a mystery audio drama that brings a "new twist on the true crime genre." It is an Audiohm Media original production, co-starring Vince Dajani as Jon Spacer and Shaina Waring as Sheriff Fran Crowley. It currently has three seasons with 39 episodes in total, not including bonus episodes. Each episode is usually about 20 mins, give or take a few minutes.

Bodies are piling up in the strange town of Springfield, and forensic pathologist Jonathan Spacer intends to find out why. But, Jon isn’t without his own secrets… He can talk to the dead, for starters. [ONGOING]

Ooo, a character that can speak to the dead? It's always so interesting to see what they'll do with their ability and where the creators take them. This has been entertaining, but at times I do think they can do better in developing their characters a bit more. For example, I can count on one hand the number of times Crowley doesn't get angry. Though to be fair, Jon isn't an immediately likable character, but that does change the further you go...sorta.

The Amelia Project – is a comedy fiction audio drama created, written, directed, produced and edited by Philip Thorne and Øystein Ulsberg Brager for Imploding Fictions and The Fable and Folly Network. It currently has four seasons, with a fifth one on the way. There's about 72 episodes, not including prologue, special, and BTS episodes which would up the total to 122. Each episode also varies in length from 20 to 45 minutes long.

The Amelia Project is a secret agency that fakes its clients' deaths, then lets them reappear with a brand-new identity. A black comedy full of secrets, twists... and cocoa. The series starts as a succession of interviews with clients who want to fake their deaths, then slowly a larger narrative begins to emerge... Each episode tells its own story, but we recommend starting with Season 1. [ONGOING]

It was fun to listen to while I was drawing or washing the dishes. I could also follow along without becoming too distracted by it, either. I was worried it would be one of those that take a while to get to the main overall story, but thankfully it did not. It will definitely keep you entertained and interested to know what will happen next.

Community Cat News – is a neighborhood news show done from the perspective of cats. There's currently 13 episodes so far and each one varies from 5 to 12 minutes long.

ANNE'S 2024 CROCHETED TEMPERATURE BLANKET!!!! 🥹🧶 (left: December, right: January)

yarn used: lionbrand heartland yarn, in colors north cascades, voyageurs, carlsbad caverns, congaree, haleakala, canyonlands, gateway arch, yosemite, redwood, badlands, and great smokey mountains

366 rows of the single crochet stitch, one row per day. the row corresponds to the high temperature of my hometown that day, and there are 11 different temperature ranges. generally, the coldest days are represented by (light) purple and blues, while the warmest by oranges, reds, a dark purple, and a black/grey. the yellow and green carry the moderate temperatures

at the beginning, each row took about 30-35 min to complete. by march, it was about 15-20 min. by the end, it took 10-15 minutes! there were ~230 stitches per row.

length: 8 ft 1 inch - 8 ft 6 inches (it's stretchy) / 2.5-2.6m

width: 5 ft 3 inches / 1.6m

27 skeins of yarn were used (some hardly used, others used all the way through)

least used color is the very light purple (north cascades) on the far right (january), used four times. it represents sub freezing temperatures and is the coldest color used in the blanket

most used color is the brownish dark orange (yosemite), very frequent in the middle, used 61 times. it represents high 70s and low 80s (fahrenheit) or mid 20s to 30 (celsius)

I am a finalist in the John Locke Essay competition, and am invited to participate in the 3 day event in London in September with talks, award ceremonies, gala dinner and oxbridge events and workshops!!!

Hi dear!

Avoid cold foods/drinks, wear socks, drink warm herbal infusions throughout the day (ginger is very helpful for this, excellent for digestion and immunity as well), practice intentional movement at least 30 min a day, (could be walking), lymphatic drainage massages (there are a few tutorials on youtube that are good especially the Japanese and Chinese ones), if you’re in an inflamed state id avoid the professional massages unless they’re very very gentle.

Some various tips about food that prove helpful to me when times are tough

Veggies you buy raw for eating with dips can be roasted when they are no longer crisp and delicious for dipping. Toss in olive oil, salt and pepper, and whatever other spices you like (cumin roasted cauliflower is my fav!) and roast 30-40 mins at 400, stirring once or twice (unsure if your particular veggie is good for roasting? give it a roast just to see. its better than tossing it)

meal shakes are your friend! a shake for a meal is better than no meal at all. my go-to is a high protein carnation instant breakfast in my afternoon coffee. its shelf stable (so it can live in my work bag or back pocket), nutrient dense, and turns my cofffee into a mocha

A handful of crackers and some juice is better than no dinner at all. If you know youre in a "food, bleh" place, get yourself some juice boxes and a favorite snack cracker. Some food, even "bad" food, is better than no food

speaking of, if you like French onion dip, try making it with greek yogurt (my fav is fage with hidden valley dill dip). it packs a lot of protein into a comfort food

(there is no such thing as bad food, btw. some food is more nutrient dense than others, but all food is good food that nourishes your body and fuels your brain. Eat the "bad" food)

((also also not eating makes your brain feel like shit. That baby sucks up soooo much of your daily caloric needs. Please feed your brain so you stop feeling like shit. Eat a snickers, youll hate life less))

a can of V-8 can go into so many broth based dishes. My go-to chili recipe is brown up some ground beef, drain it, then chuck two cans of chili beans and one mini can of v8 into the pot. Boom! food. Tomato pairs great with anything beef, adding a depth and acidity that makes other flavors sing. Plus the bonus veggies of a v8? Excellent

popcicles are an amazing way to keep fruit in the house. we're currently on an Outshine Pomegranate kick in this house. Yes, they can be pricey. But they dont rot out from under you waiting to be remembered. The cost of a popcicle that will keep til you eat it is worth more than the cheaper fruit you just throw away (bonus: the lime ones are great for halting anxiety spirals and panic attacks. cold + sour can help shock your brain out of its doom spiral)

frozen veggies can be chucked into a lot of things at the end of cooking. my go to is keeping a bag of frozen peas n carrots to toss in ramen, rice, and pot pies - plus they help cool the food down so i can eat it :P

finally, consider looping your friends into your eating habits. get a soup buddy you can swap leftovers with. ask your friends to help you remember to eat. A simple text or DM to remind you to eat might seem like a silly thing to ask for, but it offloads rhe burden of remembering and reminds me that im loved and cared for. its easier to dredge up the will to eat when i know someone loves me

take care of yourselves and remember that every victory, no matter how small, is a fucking victory!!! celebrate your successes, dont hoard your failures. You got this :)

Methods:

Work in 25-minute bursts followed by a 5 minute break. After 4 sessions, take a longer break (15-30 minutes). This helps with focus and prevents burnout!

𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨:

Create visual diagrams to connect key concepts. This can be especially helpful for organizing complex ideas and understanding how different topics are related.

𝘚𝘘3𝘙 𝘔𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥:

A reading comprehension technique that ensures you fully engage with the material through questioning, summarizing, and reviewing.

𝘍𝘦𝘺𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦:

After learning a concept, write down what you understand in simple terms as if you're teaching it to someone else. Then, identify areas where you're unclear and go back to review those.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 "𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘧" 𝘔𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥

When taking notes, write them as if you're explaining the topic to "future you"—the version of you who forgot everything.

Use casual, clear language and leave yourself questions to answer later, so you're forced to think critically when reviewing.

Instead of 25 min study / 5 min break, flip it when motivation is low:

Start with 5 min of studying, then take a 25-min break.

Gradually increase study time as you build focus.

It tricks your brain into starting when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Have a set time!

Create a time goal for you to reach (2-5 hours, for example). Time yourself in increments, specific times for different subjects. For best results, spend more time on subjects you don't understand, and little time doing practice questions, or lightly reviewing topics you understand.

Minimize ALL distractions

Turn the phone AWFF I know you can do it, SO DO IT. No excuses. Less distractions=More focus. Create a clean, organized space around you. A clutter-free environment has a direct impact on your mindset and productivity. When your surroundings are tidy, your brain can stay clear and focused on the task at hand. Set up your workspace intentionally—keep only what you need to succeed within reach.

Take breaks!!!

Please, please, PLEASE, don't burn yourself out!

Your brain is like a muscle���if you push it too hard without rest, it’ll get fatigued and you won’t perform at your best. Schedule regular breaks to recharge and reset. Even a few minutes of stepping away from your work can do wonders for your focus and energy.

Use your break time wisely: stretch, hydrate, or take a quick walk to clear your mind. These small actions will help you come back refreshed and ready to crush your next task. Remember, consistency is key—working smart, not just hard, is the secret to staying productive and avoiding burnout. Take care of yourself, and the results will follow!

Quiz yourself!!

Flashcards, mock quizzes, practice exams, and similar tools are excellent methods for exam preparation. They not only help you mentally prepare but also boost your confidence, setting you up to excel on your next test!

Look back at your notes!

It may sound simple, but this tip is incredibly effective! Many teachers base their test questions on the material they provide, often reusing similar ones. Re-doing questions you’ve worked on in class, without any guidance, is a great way to put this strategy into action!

The "Energy Matching" Technique

Instead of sticking to a rigid schedule, match tasks to your energy levels:

High energy? Do active studying (like flashcards, problem-solving).

Low energy? Do passive studying (reading, summarizing, highlighting).
